State College PA

So we are back home and slowly getting over our jet lag.  I had to go to a meeting up at University Park so we took a quick road trip there.  We had lunch at the Penn State Creamery!

Front entrance - someone must have been in a hurry and broke the door!!

Mine - Death by Chocolate

John's - No sugar added Strawberry
After lunch we went to the Palmer Museum of Art.  This place was very nice!!  They had a lot of very nice art work to see.

Then I went off to my meeting and John continued to wander around campus.  We had a nice supper out (seafood buffet!) and then drove home.

What John was doing while Karen was at the conference. (Day 3)

I started the day by going straight to the Museum of Australian Currency Notes.

In 1966 the country of Australia went to decimal currency.

Here is a video that I say at the museum.

It was a fun museum and I learned a lot about Australia.  I had more time left so I thought I would go back to The Botanical Gardens.

I sat by this pond for a long time.

Finally a view of the Harbour from The Botanical Gardens!

A fun three days of exploring Sydney!

What John was doing while Karen was at the conference. (Day 2)

Today my main goal was to cross over the Harbour Bridge.

Here I go!
A view of the Opera House from the bridge.
Made it to the other side!

I had some more time so I decided to head to the Botanical Gardens.  This is the lower area of the gardens called The Domain.

While I was in The Domain I stopped by The Art Gallery of New South Wales.  A lot of beautiful works of art in the gallery.

No this is not me after all the walking I did.  This was a work of art at the gallery.  There where many other types and works of art.

All in all it was a fun day and I got to see a lot of Sydney.  On my way back to the Hotel I say a museum I thought I would check out tomorrow.

What John was doing while Karen was at the conference. (Day 1)

You may be wondering what I was doing while Karen was busy at the conference well here are some of the many pictures I took on my adventure of Sydney.  Here are some pictures from day one.

First I stopped for a coffee before I explored Hyde Park.

This is the ANZAC Memorial.  ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps

A statue of Captain Cook in Hyde Park.  Captain Cook discovered Australia.

A fountain in Hyde Park

A clock in the Queen Victoria Building.
I did a lot of walking and saw a lot and there is still two more days!

Last day in Sydney

July 16th was our last day (or morning) in Sydney.  Our shuttle bus was to pick us up at 11:40am so we went out to the Botanic Garden for the morning.  John had been there while I was at the conference (and he will be posting some pictures later) and he enjoyed it so thought we should both go there.  Here are some pictures:

Cool rock formations!

A bench a man carved out of the rocks for his wife
to sit on while she admired the view of Sydney Harbour

Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House behind us.

Our sparse and very inexpensive hotel room.

Our plane ready to take us back home.

Last day in Adelaide :(

Today (July 15th) was our last day in Adelaide.  We had such an awesome visit with Wendy!!

On the way to the airport we first went to Port Noarlunga and then went to Glenelg for lunch.  Here are some pictures:

Port Noarlunga

John and I on the beach with the pier behind us.

hehe Just as Wendy went to take this picture I stepped in a dip on the pier
and grabbed John to prevent myself from hurling off the pier (sill fear of heights!)
Here are a few pictures from Glenelg:

And Wendy took a picture of us just as we were leaving:

Bye Wendy :(  Bye Adelaide :(

Back home!

We are back home now!!  What an amazing trip!  We are suffering a bit of jet lag right now but hope it passes over the next few days.  All of the laundry is done and our three suitcases are unpacked.  We still have to put away the souvenirs we brought home and put aside gifts we bought.  Almost all back to normal here.

What will follow are a few posts to catch up on a few days of adventures that we didn't get a chance to post while we were on the road.

One thing is for certain - this trip has whet our appetite for more travel!!

Cleland Wildlife Park

July 14th we went to Cleland Wildlife Park.  WOW what an amazing experience!!  We were able to buy some grain pellets to feed the kangaroos - that was so cool and so much fun!!!  We also were able to meet a koala up close and got our picture taken with her.  Again - that was so cool and so much fun!!  There were a lot of other cool animals and birds there.

Check out the joey in her pouch!!
